Turning battery research into scalable, sustainable pCAM solutions—together with a great team.
Can you describe your role at Umicore?
In my work, I contribute to the development of new pCAM materials that directly influence battery performance, sustainability and reliability. The work we do in the lab and pilot plant plays a crucial role in translating research into scalable solutions for future battery technologies.
What do you enjoy about your job?
What I really enjoy is leading the team in the precipitation lab and pilot plant. Together, we ensure our equipment is in top condition and that we operate in a safe and efficient way. I also value the close collaboration with researchers—discussing trials, solving challenges and testing new ideas. The combination of variety, responsibility and teamwork means no two days are the same.
What do you enjoy about working for Umicore?
At Umicore, I feel trusted to take ownership and to lead. The collaborative culture encourages open dialogue between operators, engineers and researchers, which makes it easier to turn ideas into real progress. Knowing that our work contributes to more sustainable battery materials gives extra meaning to what we do every day.
What do you look forward to when you leave for work in the morning?
I look forward to the diversity of the work and the dynamic environment. Developing new pCAM involves many different tasks and close cooperation with colleagues, which keeps the job challenging, engaging and motivating.
What has been your highlight so far in your role at Umicore?
A major milestone was the completion of our highly automated pilot plant. It allows us to run trials more efficiently, with greater consistency, while generating high-quality data to support the development of new pCAM chemistries. This work lays the foundation for high-quality CAM production in Europe and supports a strong, sustainable battery value chain for electric mobility.
