About Rechargeable Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Business IT Manager, reporting to the Head of RBM&CSM Business IT & Digitalization. In this role you will be a key player within the RBM Canada organization in guaranteeing and supporting a functioning plant in terms of IT infrastructure, IT applications and IT digitalization. You will guide the organization through the different growth plans in a smooth and sustainable way. This also involves creating a team that will support and will help the organization in growth by providing the needed support and leading the different IT related projects..

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key coordinator (local single point of contact) between business (local key users, global domain owners and BP&IT colleagues) and IT by gathering business requirements, coordinate the implementation in the systems and testing by key-users
  • Map and understand business processes and translate them into system specifications and system set-up with timely  training, organized and provided by BIT team
  • Providing additional support and training during the start up, qualification, mass production preparation and  of ongoing process/system related changes
  • Ensure that business (key users) knowledge on processes and systems is safeguarded, key users are well trained, have a complete understanding of their responsibilities in the different systems
  • Contribute to the training manuals and systems (COP, LIMS, PI, EWM, Sharepoint,..)  documentation
  • Guarantee that new key users during the upscaling period (support to end users) will be trained and safeguard that the different systems are following the new business processes
  • Provide functional expertise and leadership in assuring that the business processes and system requirements are aligned continuously and where changes are needed, ensure the business requirements are clearly understood, mapped with the system template and coordinate the change together with Corporate IT team
  • Organizing testing sessions with key users and ensuring that the organization is trained accordingly
  • Guarantee that the business unit specific rules on data governance (data confidentiality and data security) are being applied to and act as the expert for the system security and access rights
  • Coordination of new digitalization business cases that are being implemented or rolled out in RBM Canada as first pilots in the RBM organization, together with the corporate digitalization and RBM stakeholders  

 

Who we are looking for

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Master’s degree in information technology, finance, applied computer sciences or a related field
  • Previous experience in blueprinting, developing business requirements, testing and realization to develop configuration templates is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP (more specific EWM, LIMS,…) is a plus
  • Clear knowledge of business processes and translation of those processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business, strong analytical mindset
  • Clear understanding of priority setting, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of financial, commercial and operational flows and interactions between different entities and teams
  • Strong coordination and communication skills; the organization and presentation of analytically complex information towards various stakeholders
  • Cross-functional process integration experience
  • Well organized, initiative-driven
  • Strives for excellence in all business related activities
  • Proven people management and leadership skills
